An experienced media executive, Keith Clinkscales currently serves as the CEO of Shadow League Digital, a multi-platform sports news organization. As such, Keith Clinkscales oversees Shadow League Films’ productions such as the Muhammad Ali 70 Special, a televised celebration of the boxing legend’s 70th birthday.
Lasting nearly five hours, the Muhammad Ali 70 Special was a star-studded event that included appearances from entertainers such as Samuel L. Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and LL Cool J. Retired boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and boxing promoter Bob Arum also were in attendance, and former President Barack Obama joined in wishing Ali a happy birthday through a video message.
In addition to being a salute to the former boxing champion, the Ali 70 Special served as a fundraiser that raised millions of dollars for brain research to cure conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, which Ali has. Items auctioned for charity included the gloves Ali used in his 1965 heavyweight title fight against Floyd Patterson, which sold to a casino owner for $1.1 million.
