Recently, NABJ announced it was bestowing its Salute to Excellence Award to The Baltimore Sun for its thought-provoking series on modern-day school segregation. Written by reporters Liz Bowie and Erica L. Green, the four-part series called “Bridging the Divide: The Struggle to Move Past Segregated Schools” gives an in-depth examination of Baltimore-area attempts to integrate schoolchildren by race and class better.
