Since the 1980s, seasoned entertainment executive Keith Clinkscales has been a recognizable presence in cable television and print media. Before taking on senior positions with ESPN and Revolt Media, Keith Clinkscales served as CEO of Vibe magazine, a venture that earned him five National Magazine Award nominations.
A leader in urban lifestyle media, Vibe first launched Vibe Vixen in 2004 as Vibe magazine’s women’s focused publication. The magazine covered topics relevant to women of color living in urban areas such as fashion, entertainment, dating and relationships, and careers. The publication frequently featured famous women of color on the cover, including R&B singer Kelis and fashion designer Kimora Lee Simmons.
Vibe Vixen was closed down in 2007 but returned in an online-only format in 2013. The publication’s return was widely applauded by media critics who appreciated the web magazine's content targeted to ‘book and street-smart’ women. Vibe Vixen offers seasonal internship opportunities for young journalists, editors, and writers with a strong interest in urban culture.
